unfinished performance

Luna Yin ✳︎ Dec 27, 2023

humming and

i wish

the world weren’t

so silent

if

i had a chance to

hold the music again

i wouldn’t let it slip through my fingers

oh you made me a sculpture

the parts you carved out

a hollow ache

but some new shapes

i’ve learned to love,

do you know how many

cracking wrists

i’ve paid to

write this symphony of

clinking glass tears

and frozen windchimes

oh you made me a performer

pretty surface of fake smiles

i acted and

acted and

acted

until

i didn’t

until

the show was

me and

 i was the show and

the world seemed to be watching

with vinegar eyes

is it stage call yet?

is it over?

is it over?

oh you made me a daughter

a halfgirl of halfdreams

walking on stairs missing steps

and searching for the soul

she was promised

future is on the horizon

beautiful but forever

retreating

a sunlit decrescendo

into the

quiet distance
